There’s a theory that people tend to congregate at end points, at places from which they can go no farther. They’ll sit on a hill and overlook the tundra, a sea or the ocean. One such end point is San Diego.
Bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Mexican border to the south, San Diego is at the meeting point of lines of concentration. Try to leave and there’s the Anza-Borrego Desert to the east and the Laguna Mountains to the north. And, of course, with its unique blend of Mexican/American culture and one of the most pleasant climates in the world, why would anyone want to leave?
Located at the southwestern-most corner of the continental United States, San Diego offers 70 miles of beaches and a mild Mediterranean climate. With a population of 1,255,540, San Diego not only is California’s second largest city, but the eighth largest in the United States. San Diego County covers 4,200 square miles, has become a major center for the biotechnology industry, and is home to Qualcomm, the major telecommunications company.
